“NCFC strongly supports the 25x’25 vision of having 25% of America’s energy needs supplied by renewable resources—such as ethanol, biodiesel, biomass, wind, and solar—by the year 2025. We join with numerous other trade associations, businesses and states from across the country in encouraging further development of these energy sources. The endorsement of the 25x'25 initiative was unanimously adopted by NCFC at its Washington Conference held June 6-8 in Washington, DC. “While the goal of 25x’25 is ambitious, we believe that America’s agricultural producers, and the farmer cooperatives they own and control, are ready and able to help meet this important objective. In fact, America’s farmer cooperatives already play a major role in the production and distribution of renewable energy such as ethanol and biodiesel, and their efforts and investment, along with those of their farmer and rancher members, will be vital in achieving the 25/’25 vision. “Development of renewable energy sources not only will help the U.S. gain more energy independence, but it will lead to a cleaner environment and encourage economic development in rural communities. “NCFC would also like to recognize the leadership of a bipartisan group in both the House and the Senate who have introduced a concurrent resolution in support of 25x’25. Their efforts, along with those of governors and state legislatures across the country, are vital in bringing a spotlight to this initiative.” |
